Here are some helpful tips for those of you ready to start a dieting plan. The degree to which your diet is a success is, of course, up to you. But, with these helpful tips and a little dedication, you will start to see the results you’ve always wanted.
Please note: Before you begin any reducing plan it is wise to visit your doctor.
- Do light exercises before breakfast and before retiring. Exercise tones the muscles and burns calories.
- Weigh yourself every morning, without clothing, and see to it that - you do not gain weight.
- Drink plenty of water between meals. It helps fill an empty stomach. However, avoid water at meals and for about half an hour before and after.
- Do not use too much salt or eat highly salted foods. Salt may cause you to hold water and water adds to body weight.
- Eat slowly. Stretching out your meal periods will give you emotional satisfaction.
- If you must snack between meals, keep your refrigerator stocked with low calorie foods like carrots, celery, radishes, cauliflower and mushrooms, instead of sweets.
- Never skip a meal. You need the emotional satisfaction of eating as well as the nutrition.
- Take small servings and omit seconds. No matter how many calories there are in a serving of food, a smaller serving or fewer servings means fewer calories.
- Stick with the lower calorie foods. You don't have to completely eliminate your favorite high calorie treats. Just eat them less often and have smaller portions.
- Take advantage of any opportunity to increase activities - walk rather than ride - climb stairs rather than take an elevator, etc.
